This Very Second

This very second, I dare you to live in this moment.
Think not of tomorrow or the next move you'll make.
This - right now - matters.
Take a deep breath, look around - be still and take it all in.
The future doesn't exist yet and the past is at our feet.
Appreciate that you are here - ever present - right this minute.
Don't ignore this sudden but brief wrinkle in time.
It's precious and fleeting, though it may feel insignificant - it's truly far from.
Don't make it a rare occasion to slow down and just be.
Don't wish it away and rush what is happening.
You're alive and living - seize it - savour it.
Things will steal your thoughts, your time, your attention - but before that happens...
I dare you to cherish this very second before it passes you by.

Recycled

I often wonder what's genuine anymore.
Everything seems recycled; words, motives, emotions, and actions.
When will it feel fresh again?
Or are we all out of firsts?
Trapped in a constant state of deja vu, where everything feels like it did the last time.
Oh, how I long for something unlike anything I've ever experienced before.
Special, untainted, full of new awakenings.

Bittersweet

Your selfish words help no one but yourself.
Your thoughtless actions fail to agree.
I placed my heart before you as I pleaded on my knees.
How much do I have to beg?
What may I ask?
What may I question?
Everything but you.
Your body and soul complete, as my heart and mind race to a finish which cannot be reached.
A lost cause that contaminates everyone, even those who don't belong.
My eyes whisper what you want to hear and in your eyes I see where this could lead.
The taste however is bittersweet.
I cannot ask for anything more, for I am only able to question a question.
I don't want to convince myself anymore.
Create a new ending
substitute an old heart
handle it well
feel the way
forgive me
please just go away.

Precious To Me

Special ordinary days,
top of the world nights,
and everything in between.
All the sights that fill my eyes,
all the things within my grasp,
dreams yet to be seen.
Touch, sight, smell, hear and taste.
Mistakes made, lessons learned,
the strength of my beating heart.
Endless possibilities,
new experiences,
creating memories.
For another tomorrow,
and for today.
I will treasure the simplest of things,
because that is what's precious to me.

So Fail

"So fail. Be bad at things. Be embarrassed. Be afraid. Be vulnerable. Go out on a limb or two or twelve, & you will fall & it’ll hurt. But the harder you fall, the farther you will rise. The louder you fail, the clearer your future becomes. Failure is a gift, welcome it. There are people who spend their whole lives wondering how they became the people they became, how certain chances passed them by, why they didn’t take the road less traveled Those people aren’t you. You have front row seats to your own transformation, & in transforming yourself, you might even transform the world. & it will be electric, & I promise you it will be terrifying. Embrace that; embrace the new person you’re becoming. This is your moment. I promise you, it is now, now, not two minutes from now, not tomorrow, but really now Own that; know that deep in your bones. & go to sleep every night knowing that, wake up every morning remembering that. & then…keep going."

Life is like a subway...

You get on, you get off, and sometimes you get lost.
Some people sleep, some people meet.
Some people are just along for the ride.
Some are annoyed, while others find a way to stay amused.
Certain people are in a rush, while others have time to kill.
It travels fast and other times it crawls.
It can take you where you want to go and where you least expect.
It can also take you away from something you regret.
Sometimes I tune in. There are times when I tune out.
Other times I just observe the chaos of it all.
But life is more than the destination, it's the journey before the stop.

Addiction

It's a substitution, a fake high.
It stays for a while, just long enough for you to forget your existence, your reality, your total being.
Explain to me why so many people choose to walk this road to nowhere.
To fly, to soar, to fall, to trip on anything that might help them forget.
Take a risk, take a chance.
Find out what it's all about.
It's okay, it's alright.
No one is watching so it's fine.
It follows you around, it tells you lies.
It's here and then it's gone.
To take a ride, to take flight.
The ride is always ready.
Switch the path, don't hitch a ride.
Say goodbye, don't go back.
It will never suffice.

Her heart broke a little as she walked away
but as she heard her steps
she thought of the steps it took to get to know him
the steps it took to be his friend
and the steps it took to love him
and then she smiled because she knew
it would only take a few more steps to see him again
