Addiction

It's a substitution, a fake high.
It stays for a while, just long enough for you to forget your existence, your reality, your total being.
Explain to me why so many people choose to walk this road to nowhere.
To fly, to soar, to fall, to trip on anything that might help them forget.
Take a risk, take a chance.
Find out what it's all about.
It's okay, it's alright.
No one is watching so it's fine.
It follows you around, it tells you lies.
It's here and then it's gone.
To take a ride, to take flight.
The ride is always ready.
Switch the path, don't hitch a ride.
Say goodbye, don't go back.
It will never suffice.

  1. Your poem on Addiction is freakin awesome. I've been down that road so many times, everything you say in the poem is exactly how it's happened to me on more than one time. Addiction is the devil!!!
